Enhancing Low-Wavenumber Information in Reflection Waveform Inversion by the Energy Norm Born Scattering

Full waveform inversion (FWI) plays a central role in the field of exploration geophysics due to its potential recovering properties subsurface at high resolution. A starting model with ample long wavelength components is essential for success most FWI algorithms. Reflection (RWI) one popular way invert velocity from short offset seismic data by decomposing gradient into migration and tomographic terms. However, transmitted part Born scattering conventional RWI still produces high-wavenumber artifacts, which would hinder convergence. Thus, this letter, an efficient nontransmission energy norm used overcome drawbacks RWI. Finally, we use numerical examples show that can provide clean reflection reflector enhance low-wavenumber information gradient.
